Chile: Meeting of the “Franciscan Youth”

On October 27-29, 2017, the Franciscan Youth of Curicó, Santiago and Copiapo, Chile, gathered at the parish church of Jesus of Nazareth in Curicó to share a few days of fraternity and prayer.

The purpose of the meeting was to make proper preparations for Pope Francis’ visit to Chile in mid-January of 2018.
One hundred and fifty young people participated, guided by the Friars Minor Conventual of the communities of Copiapo, Santiago and Curicó.
During the meeting, the young people participated in personal and group formation, Franciscan spirituality, Masses and fraternal discussion. These various activities helped the young people strengthen their faith and get their minds and hearts prepared for the Holy Father’s apostolic visit to Chile.
Accepting St. Francis’ invitation and following his example, the young people drew up a personal life plan, an itinerary they would faithfully follow, in order to stay on the path and to experience the true joy of the Gospel.
The young people returned to their supportive families, enthusiastic about being missionaries and protagonists in today’s society and in history, as Pope Francis so often invites us to be.
