Denmark and Sweden: Visit to the Friars

On September 3-8, 2017, Friar Miljenko HONTIĆ, the Assistant General for the Centralis Europae Foederatio (CEF), visited our friars in Denmark and Sweden. From September 5-7, he was joined on the visit by Friar Milan KOS, the Minister Provincial of the Province of St. Joseph in Slovenia.

In Denmark, Friar Tomislav CVETKO of Croatia and Friar Tomaž MAJCEN of Slovenia are living at the headquarters of the Diocese of Copenhagen and the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. They are studying Danish and are joining the parish ministry apostolate of this community.
The Assistant General and the Minister Provincial met with the Most Reverend Czesław KOZON, Bishop of Copenhagen and the Reverend Niels ENGELBRECHT, Diocesan Vicar and prelate. On this occasion, a document was signed, in conjunction with the Provinces of Croatia and Slovenia, establishing the association of our friars with the Diocesan headquarters in Copenhagen. This officially registers our Order in Denmark.
On Wednesday, September 6, the Assistant General, the Minister Provincial and the friars in Copenhagen went together to visit the community of our friars in Jönköping, Sweden. The guardian of the community is Friar Joseph NILSSON. At the friary in Jönköping, everyone took part in the celebration of Mass and shared meals. Together, they visited the town of Vadstena where Friar Piotr ZACHAREWICZ, a member of the friars’ community in Sweden, lives and works as a chaplain for the sisters. They also visited the Shrine of St. Bridget of Sweden and the two convents of the Bridgettine and Benedictine Sisters. Despite some cloudy and rainy weather, the friars were very happy with the meeting and were pleased to spend time together.
