Pope Innocent IV issued the bull Gloriosus Deus which entrusted Bishop Bartholomew of Spoleto with the responsibility of investigating the cause of canonization for St. Clare of Assisi.
October 18, 1263
Pope Urban IV approved a new Rule of St. Clare, known as the Urbanist Rule.
October 18, 1273
Lady Jacopa de Roma, the Secular Franciscan who was present at the death of St. Francis in 1226, died in Assisi, Italy.
October 18, 1562
St. Peter of Alcantara, a former Observant friar who joined the Reformed Conventuals in 1541, then transferred to the Alcantrarine Observants, died.
