You may recall that the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development has instituted a special year to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the publication of the encyclical Laudato Si’. The year lasts from May 24, 2020 to May 24, 2021.

The ongoing pandemic has made Pope Francis’ message about the care of our “common home” even more timely and urgent. Indeed, since we are all facing the same problem, we are forced to rethink our selfish positions, to adopt an attitude that is more in solidarity with others and to seek the good of all creation.
Events today show that the encyclical is more prophetic than ever; in fact, the encyclical helps us to better understand the evils that afflict humanity and gives us an opportunity to create an authentic, new way of living together; one that is in harmony with the demands of life, as it was conceived by the Creator.
This year, the Dicastery, (created at the Pope’s behest), wants to help build an alliance between all people of good will, so that they can find and implement specific tools that will help achieve the values and demands of the encyclical.
Below, you will find a link to keep you up to date with this special year’s initiatives and programs. Among the many initiatives presented, there is the noteworthy “Multi-Year Laudato Si’ Roll-Out Plan” to make communities totally sustainable, and the institution of the “Laudato Si’ Awards” in order to encourage and promote initiatives for the care of our common home.
