At 5:00 p.m. on January 1, 2021, the Solemnity of the Mother of God, the Provincial Custody of St. Francis in Bolivia joyfully celebrated the simple profession of Friar Jhonatan RÍOS UREY. The event took place at the Church of Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes y San Ramón Nonato in the city of Montero – Santa Cruz, Bolivia.
Despite health restrictions due to the pandemic, the parishioners attended the celebration in order to share the joy of this important step in the consecrated life of Friar Jhonatan.
Our confrere’s temporary vows were received by the Provincial Custos, Friar Carlos Antonio CATALÁN MELGAR, in the presence of the concelebrants, namely Friars Jan KUKLA (Custodial Vicar); Narciso Eusebio MAMANI PANIAGUA; Limber OLIBERA; and Calixto SALVATIERRA MORENO.
Friar Jhonatan spent his canonical novitiate year in Medellín, Colombia. He is a native of Cochabamba, Bolivia, and attended the Church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen in Quintanilla, Bolivia, where the Order of Friars Minor Conventual has been present since 1979.
