On March 19, 2022, the Solemnity of St. Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Provincial Custody of the Immaculate Conception of the B.V.M. in Brazil joyfully celebrated the diaconal ordination of Friar Jesus RODRIGUES DO AMARAL.
The ordination took place at the São Pedro e São Paulo Church, which is entrusted to the Santo Antônio dos Pobres Friary in the city of Paraíba do Sul, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Those present included the Provincial Custos, Friar Ronaldo GOMES DA SILVA, all the members of his Definitory, friars representing the friaries of the Custody, the formators, some religious, faithful, benefactors, and the relatives and friends of the new deacon.
Friar Jesus was born on May 27, 1991, in Luziânia, State of Goiás, Brazil. He made his simple profession on February 8, 2018, and his solemn profession on August 2, 2021. Since January 2022, he has been a member of the Santo Antônio dos Pobres Community in Paraíba do Sul, State of Rio de Janeiro.
May God be praised for the vocation of our confrere who has taken another step in his Franciscan formation towards the priesthood. The friars of the Custody feel very blessed by God for the grace of Friar Jesus’ diaconal ordination and they shall continue to pray for new vocations.
