On August 2, 2021, Feast of St. Mary of the Angels, the Provincial Custody of the Immaculate Conception of the B.V.M. in Brazil celebrated the Solemn Profession of Friar Jesus RODRIGUES DO AMARAL and Friar Ricardo Elvis ARRUDA BEZERRA, presided over by Friar James McCURRY, Minister of the Province of Our Lady of the Angels of the USA (OLA).
The solemn liturgy took place in the parish church of Saints Peter and Paul, next to the Convent of Santo Antônio dos Pobres, in the city of Paraíba do Sul – Rio de Janeiro, at 10:00 a.m., with the presence of the Provincial Custos, Friar Ronaldo GOMES DA SILVA, all the Custodial Definitors, the Vicar Provincial of the Province of St. Maximilian M. Kolbe in Brazil, the Rector of the Post-Novitiate Friar Flávio FREITAS DE AMORIM, many friars and parishioners, as well as relatives and friends of the newly professed. Everything took place according to the sanitary protocols for the control of the pandemic.
The celebration marks the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the Provincial Custody, with the arrival of the North American missionaries in 1946 in Rio de Janeiro and the beginning of the canonical visitation of the Minister Provincial.
We welcome Friar Jesús and Friar Ricardo to the Custodial fraternity, wishing them a prosperous beginning of their definitive consecration, to live among us and with us the joy of being brothers, embracing the Gospel of the poor and crucified Lord.
