At 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2020, six Conventual Franciscan friars were ordained to the diaconate. The ordinations took place at the “Shrine of the Vision” in Camposampiero, Italy.

Three of the confreres were from the Italian Province of St. Anthony of Padua (Northern Italy), namely, Friars Alberto TONELLO; Anicet NGENDANDUMWE; and Simone PAGNONI. Another two friars, currently students in Padua, were from the Province of St. Joseph, Spouse of the B.V.M. in Romania; they were Friars Gabriel BEJAN and Marius-Marcel DOBOŞ. Closing the circle was Friar Dominc Thành Nghia HOÀNG, from Vietnam, currently studying in Rome and a member of the Provincial Delegation in Vietnam. The Delegation in Vietnam belongs to the Province of St. Joseph of Cupertino in the USA (SJC).
It was indeed a great joy to receive the gift of new ordinations during these difficult and uncertain times. Moreover, the festivities were made even more joyous with former Minister General Friar Marco TASCA presiding over the ordinations. Friar Marco, a member of the Province of Padua, was ordained Archbishop of Genoa, Italy, a few months ago.
