On October 15-16, 2022, the 3rd National Fraternal Assembly of the Militia of the Immaculata (M.I.) was held at the Jorbalán House of Spirituality in Chía, Cundinamarca Department, Colombia. The presider was Friar David TABARES VÉLEZ, the Delegate of the Provincial Custody of St. Francis of Assisi in Colombia for the National Spiritual Assistance of the M.I. in Colombia.
The Provincial Custos, Friar Sidifredo de la Cruz CHAPARRO GUALDRÓN and Friar Elkin Emilio SOSA CORREA, Delegate for Spiritual Assistance of a local M.I. center, also animated the event. Several militia members from various local centers in the country participated.
During the Assembly, a meeting was held with Friar Sidifredo, who spoke about the true essence of the M.I. and its mission in the midst of society. He invited everyone to undertake their mission with great depth, as St. Maximilian M. Kolbe urged: “It is logical, then, that we should be committed to the work of conversion and sanctification of souls under the protection and through the mediation of the Immaculata” (cf. Writings 1226).
There were moments of prayer and time dedicated to listening to and getting to know the different current realities of the M.I. in the country, and how the members try to embrace the desire for holiness proposed by the Militia of the Immaculata.
Seeking to increasingly plan the work and consolidate the efforts of the Militia in Colombia, a number of working commissions were organized in different areas, to renew the impetus and work of the M.I., working and building together as brothers.
The Assembly was a rewarding and profound experience of prayer, listening, learning and commitment to the cause of the Kingdom, under the guidance and protection of the Immaculata. It rekindled the desire of every militia member to give of himself and live the ideal of the M.I.
