On September 22-24, 2021, the Major Superiors and Delegates of the African Federation of Conventual Franciscans (AFCOF) gathered in Saltpond, Ghana for their annual Assembly.

Those participating included the Major Superiors of Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Ghana; the Delegates of Uganda and Burkina Faso; and the Minister Provincial of the Province of the Immaculate Mother of God in Poland (Warsaw), the Mother Province of the Custody of Tanzania and the Delegation of Burkina Faso. The Minister General, Friar Carlos TROVARELLI, participated online via Zoom.
The Assembly has always discussed issues on formation, however this year’s meeting can be defined as an Assembly “in formation” due to the wide range of formative themes addressed and the participation of various friars who have worked, or are working, as formators, and who were invited to enrich the reflection on the formative environment in the AFCOF Federation.
The confreres involved in formation who took part included Friar Joseph KACHELEWA, member of the General Secretariat for Formation; Friar Blasio Ooko OLENGE, President of the AFCOF Formation Commission; Friar Moses Kabenla ARTHUR, Novice Master of Ghana (in attendance); Friar Bonaventure MPASA, former Assistant General for AFCOF; and Friar Raymond Owinda OGUTU, Rector of the Nairobi post-novitiate (via Zoom).
The Assembly concluded its proceedings with some resolutions and the election of Friar Ferena LAMBE as the new Vice-President of the Federation, replacing Friar Dariusz SZYMBORSKI.
The next Assembly will be held in Uganda, God willing.

Friar Anthony Bezo KUTIERO, Assistant General for the AFCOF Federation
