On October 12-16, 2020, the Provincial Custody of St. Anthony of Padua in Ghana held a fraternal “formative week.” This was an event for all of the solemnly professed friars in Ghana. It took place at the St. Francis of Assisi Friary/Novitiate, in Saltpond. The program was designed for the friars to learn, relax, fraternize and celebrate the gift of one another.

The five-day program began with adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and the recitation of Evening Prayer, led by the Vicar Custos, Friar Eugene ANTWI BOASIAKO. Nearly all of the solemnly professed friars in Ghana attended.
During the week, a number of speakers addressed the friars on the following topics: “My Vocation story: Contentment or Regret?”; “Exclusive Friendship and the Value of Freedom in Consecrated Life”; “The Power of Stress and Its Management”; “Breaking the Barrier of ‘Old Age-Thinking’ and Excessive Youthful Exuberance in Community Life”; “The Value of Strategic Planning”; “Security Consciousness in Ghana Today”; and “Lifestyle in Religious Communities.” There was also some time for fraternal recreation.
At the end of the program, the friars showed their appreciation for all the thought provoking and rich material that the speakers provided.
