On Saturday, May 18, 2024, while awaiting the coming of the Holy Spirit [the Solemnity of Pentecost], the Province of St. Francis of Assisi in Kenya joyfully witnessed the diaconal ordination of six friars from Uganda, Kenya and Ghana.
The new deacons are Friars Alfred KIMERA from Uganda; Remmy MUKHWANA, Samuel MUVEA and Samuel WEKESA from Kenya; and Aaron Melchizedek ABOAH and Emmanuel SOR from Ghana. The ordinations took place in the Diocese of Kericho, Kenya, at the St. John the Evangelist Church in Chepseon. The friars were ordained by the Most Reverend Alfred ROTICH, Bishop of Kericho.
We are grateful to God for the favorable weather and the sunshine that gave us the warmth we needed to celebrate such a blessed moment. The songs during the ordination were well prepared and the African spirit of the celebration was amazing. The joy of the event nicely prepared everyone for celebrating the coming of the Holy Spirit on the following day. May God bless these newly ordained deacons as our Order continues to grow in Africa.
