On Saturday, June 18, 2022, the Province of St. Francis of Assisi in Kenya witnessed five of its friars ordained to the priesthood and two to the diaconate. The ordinations took place at the Church of Francis of Assisi, in Limuru Town, in the Archdiocese of Nairobi, Kenya.

The Most Reverend David Kamau NG’ANG’A, Auxiliary Bishop of Nairobi and the Apostolic Administrator of Nakuru, Kenya, led the celebration. During the colorful solemn Mass, the bishop was accompanied by Friar Francis KANYIRI, the Vicar Provincial of the Province of Kenya and Father John ONNA the Regional Rector of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate (Pallottine Fathers). The Minister Provincial of Kenya, Friar Obed KAROBIA, was in absentia because he was attending a meeting in Rome.
The newly ordained priests are Friars Peter Otieno ONYANGO, Jackson Mbonge MAWEU, George Omondi ODHIAMBO, William Mwirigi KILEMI and Vincent Onyango OPUBA. The newly ordained deacons are Friars Kenneth Macharia NGUGI and Michael Maina MWOGORA. During the same celebration, Deacon Bernard OUMA, a member of the Pallottine Fathers, was ordained to the priesthood.
In his homily, the bishop called on the newly ordained to treasure God’s gift, namely, the vocation they have already received. He encouraged them to follow Jesus’ example of always turning to God in prayer whenever they face challenges in their ministry.
We offer our heartfelt congratulations to the newly ordained. May their apostolates be fruitful.
