On Wednesday, September 25, 2019, Friar Obed Muriungi KAROBIA was elected the first Minister Provincial of the new Province of St. Francis in Kenya.
Friar Obed was elected on the second ballot during the third session of the Ordinary Provincial Chapter of the new Province. The Minister General, Friar Carlos Alberto TROVARELLI, and the Assistant General for the African Federation of Conventual Franciscans (AFCOF), Friar Anthony Bezo KUTIERO, have endorsed Friar Obed for this demanding service.
Friar Obed Muriungi was born in Meru, Kenya, on June 29, 1979. He made his simple profession on July 24, 2004, his solemn profession on October 10, 2010, and was ordained to the priesthood on July 28, 2012.
