The Caritas Pacea Foundation is a charitable organization run by the friars of the Province of St. Joseph, Spouse of the B.V.M. in Romania to help families and provide daily assistance for disadvantaged children. Recently, the Foundation was given a donation that was both welcome and sweet.
Three trucks arrived from Italy containing 100,000 jars of jam in various flavors—orange, plum, strawberry, apricot and cherry). The donation came from the non-profit “Aiutiamoli a Vivere” [Let’s Help Them Live] Foundation in Terni, Italy. It was made in collaboration with the Franciscan Missionary Center in Rome, which acted as an intermediary for the great charitable work being done in the town of Roman, Romania.
The jars of jam have graced the tables of several communities including the seventy children who receive daily assistance at the Pacea Foundation Center, and the two hundred Roma families who reside at the neighboring Olympic Village and in various other villages on the outskirts of nearby cities. More jam was sent to the soup kitchen of our parish in Luizi Calugara, Romania, which provides daily meals and afterschool programs for one hundred children. Another supply of jam was sent to the formation houses of the Province of Romania.
More trucks with more jam will arrive in the next few days. The friars will distribute the jam between the nine existing food banks in Romania.
These “Fiordifrutta Rigoni” brand jams are of excellent quality. They were donated to the non-profit Aiutiamoli a Vivere Foundation, under the direction of Fabrizio PACIFICI, in response to the ongoing pandemic, and for charity purposes, in order to meet the many needs of various Italian and non-Italian charities. In particular, the product has already been sent to Belarus, Romania, Croatia, the Ukraine and Poland. In Italy, jam was sent to the Sisters of the Incarnate Word in Bagnoregio, to the Hope and Charity Mission in Palermo and to various charitable organizations run by the Conventual Franciscans in Sicily.
