On June 5-7, 2023, the second part of the Ordinary Custodial Chapter of the Provincial Custody of the Immaculate Conception of the B.V.M. in Slovakia was celebrated. The event took place at the St. Francis of Assisi Friary in Brehov, Slovakia.
The Assistant General for the Foederatio Europae Mediae et Orientalis (FEMO), Friar Tomáš LESŇÁK, and the Minister Provincial of the Province of St. Anthony and Bl. James of Strepar in Poland (Cracow) Friar Marian GOŁĄB, also participated in the Chapter.
Under the guidance of the Provincial Custos, Friar Martin M. KOLLÁR, the Capitulars discussed and voted on the 2023-27 Custodial Four-Year Plan, which is divided into three sections: spiritual life-formation, apostolate and financial issues. Various motions were approved, including one to collect and process the documents needed to open the cause of beatification of our brother Friar Štefan IGLÓDI, another to appoint the Vice-Postulator for the cause, and a motion to prepare the place where the mortal remains of Friar Štefan and our other Friar- Martyrs of Rad will be transferred.
During the sixth session, in keeping with the Directory for the Celebration of Chapters, the Guardians were elected. They are: Friar Lucjan M. BOGUCKI for the St. Francis of Assisi Friary in Bratislava; Friar Adam BARAN for the Assumption of the B.V.M. Friary in Spišský Štvrtok; Friar Tomáš M. VLČEK for the Holy Spirit Friary in Levoča; Friar Jozef SUKENÍK for the St. Francis of Assisi Friary in Brehov.
In addition, Friar Tomáš M. VLČEK was elected the Assistant Director for Vocations, Friar Jozef SUKENÍK the Assistant Director for Continuing Formation and Friar Jaroslav M. CÁR, the Rector of the post-novitiate. Finally, the Custos appointed Friar Stanisław ROK as the National Assistant to the Secular Franciscan Order.
When the work of the Chapter was concluded, the Capitulars offered prayers for the deceased confreres of the Custody and the Province.
