On June 18, 2022, our confrere Friar Godfrey KATUMBA was ordained to the diaconate through the imposition of the hands of the Most Reverend Paul SSEMOGERERE, Archbishop of Kampala, Uganda. Friar Godfrey is a member of the Provincial Delegation in Uganda. The ordination took place at the Capuchin Franciscan Padre Pio Shrine in Kabulamuliro, Kampala, Uganda.
Friar Godfrey is now the first native Ugandan deacon of the Provincial Delegation in Uganda of the Province of St. Anthony and Bl. James of Strepar in Poland (Cracow).
Friar Godfrey carried out his formation in Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya. During his ordination ceremony, four Capuchin Franciscan friars were also ordained, two to the diaconate and two to the priesthood. The friars participating in the inter-obediential course for Franciscan missionaries in Uganda were also present at the celebration.
