Friar Casimir was murdered, along with thirteen others, on June 25, 1975 in the village of Los Horcones, located in the Lepaguare area of Olancho Department, Honduras. The commemoration event honored Friar Casimir\u2019s life, his missionary ministry, and the witness of faith he gave.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Office of the Vice-Postulation at the Santa Ana Friary in Campamento, Olancho, organized and coordinated the commemorative event with support from the faithful and the San Jer\u00f3nimo Parish Church in Gualaco, Olancho, where Friar Casimir is buried. The day of commemoration highlighted his virtues, his missionary spirit, and the enduring memory of his witness, thereby strengthening his reputation for holiness among the People of God and fostering devotion to him as a martyr.<br \/>\nThe program featured a range of pastoral and educational initiatives. Among the highlights were a meeting with representatives of the Church\u2019s national pastoral ministry in Honduras and activities during National Youth Day, which introduced many more people to the life and witness of Friar Casimir. Throughout the diocese, the organizers also promoted his cause by distributing printed and audiovisual materials through local digital platforms, radio broadcasts, and meetings with the faithful in parish communities.On June 25, family members of Friar Casimir and residents of neighboring communities gathered near the site of Friar Casimir\u2019s martyrdom for a commemorative prayer service. They then joined a memorial walk with members of the media and individuals who had personally witnessed the events that left a lasting mark on the history of the Church in Olancho.<br \/>\nLater that morning, a large congregation gathered at the cathedral in Juticalpa for a Mass concelebrated by priests from neighboring parishes. In the afternoon, parishioners from the San Jer\u00f3nimo Parish in Gualaco joined students from the Casimir CYPHER School in Campamento and Francisco BERTRAND School in Gualaco for a procession through the streets. Carrying a large banner bearing Friar Casimir\u2019s image and accompanied by drums and other percussion instruments, they paused along the route to read excerpts from his final spiritual testament and eyewitness accounts of his funeral, which took place on July 21, 1975.<br \/>\nAt the end of the day of commemoration, the parish community gathered around the altar for Mass, presided over by the Most Reverend Jos\u00e9&nbsp;BONELLO, OFM, Bishop of Juticalpa. The bishop entrusted the community with a mission: <em>\u201cBe a living memory.
