On September 23, 2026, the Feast of the Province of St. Anthony and Bl. James of Strepar in Poland (Cracow) was celebrated at the St. Maximilian Center in Harm\u0119\u017ce, Poland.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On this occasion, Magdalena and Jerzy PINKALSCY received the Province\u2019s award as a sign of recognition and gratitude for having designed, free of charge, the Martyrs of Pariacoto and Missionary Museum in Kalwaria Pac\u0142awska, Poland, as well as for the support they have offered over the years to the Office for the Promotion of the Martyrs and the Franciscan missions. Their names were also inscribed in the Book of Friends and Benefactors of the Province.
\nDuring the ceremony, the Minister Provincial of the Province of Cracow, Friar Mariusz KOZIO\u0141, presented mementos to the friars who are celebrating anniversaries of their religious profession and priestly ordination this year. As a sign of gratitude, the friars sang the traditional Franciscan blessing for the jubilarians. During Mass, the friars also prayed for the jubilarians and for Friar Florian SZCZ\u0118CH, who had died only a few hours earlier.
\nThe Provincial feast day began with a lecture by Friar Zdzis\u0142aw KIJAS, given on the occasion of the 800th<\/sup> anniversary of the transitus<\/em> of St. Francis of Assisi. The lecture was provocatively entitled \u201cThe Decline of the Order?!\u201d
\n<\/em>\u201cThe Decline of the Order?!\u201d Friar Zdzis\u0142aw began. \u201cSurely many of us here are puzzled by the proposed topic: the Order\u2019s decline?! A question mark and an exclamation point: doubt and certainty, together, side by side. This is not the place to address the topic in all its aspects\u2014not for lack of time, but because of the ignorance of the person speaking to you.\u201d
\nFriar Zdzis\u0142aw shared an observation of his own: \u201cOur discussions of St. Francis and the initiatives we undertake in the spirit of his example seem to bear only modest fruit. It is true that we demonstrate his relevance today, but those whom we manage to involve in following in his footsteps with us are few.\u201d
\nHe then strongly reaffirmed the purpose of a jubilee: \u201cTo revive faith and rekindle zeal. [\u2026] Jubilees invite us to place the personal experience of God back at the center of our lives, to live a renewed encounter with the living God. [\u2026] They must manifest the power of the Holy Spirit, who makes all things new, is the life-giving force, and guarantees a future that comes from God. We must ask God to rekindle within us the fire of zeal and love for him through the intercession of our patron saints, especially St. Francis.\u201d
\nThe feast day concluded with a fraternal barbecue in the friary garden.<\/p>\n
