Through Fundația Umanitară Pacea [Peace Humanitarian Foundation], based in Roman, Romania, the Province intends to support the communities of the Friars Minor Conventual in Ukraine by providing food, medicine, clothing, and other basic necessities for people in need.

From the very first weeks of the war, the Province of Romania has organized relief efforts for the Ukrainian people through Fundația Umanitară Pacea. This work began with the project “Aid to Ukrainian Refugees” and has continued to grow thanks to collaboration between the friars of the two countries, establishing an ongoing support service that continues to address the needs created by the conflict.
Previous humanitarian missions also demonstrate the Province’s continued commitment. In March 2022, the friars of the Province of Romania, together with Fundația Umanitară Pacea, transported aid intended for refugees sheltered at the friary in Bilshivtsi, in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. In November 2023, another mission reached Boryspil, near Kyiv, delivering food, medicine, clothing, and other supplies to support the humanitarian activities carried out by the friars and their collaborators. They focused particularly on helping people living in the eastern regions of the country and areas near the front lines.
As the war drags on, the population faces severe and ongoing needs. Fighting, loss of life, and the conflict’s impact on living conditions make continued assistance essential. For many people, access to food, medicine, and clothing is a daily necessity, and Franciscan communities do what they can to meet these needs with the resources at their disposal.

Project No. 50/2026 therefore aims to ensure that this work of solidarity continues. The planned activities primarily involve purchasing food, medicine, and clothing to send to Ukraine according to needs identified in coordination with the friars serving in the country.
Some of the requested funds will also cover transportation costs and maintenance of the vehicles used to deliver the supplies. This is an essential part of the project, since purchasing the supplies alone is not enough; the project must also ensure that the supplies can reach the friaries that are providing assistance to the people.
The Province of Romania will also contribute to the project by covering logistical costs, thereby reaffirming its direct involvement in organizing and carrying out these relief efforts.
The project, proposed on September 20, 2026, and scheduled to run through the end of the year, aims to address the population’s most immediate needs, continuing a service that the friars have been providing for years in collaboration with the local Franciscan communities in Ukraine.
Through this project, the Province wishes to renew its commitment to stand alongside those who continue to suffer the consequences of the war, supporting the work of the friars who share in the daily hardship of the people. In a setting marked by suffering and deprivation, material assistance becomes a tangible expression of solidarity and fraternity, ensuring that those living amid the precarious conditions created by the conflict are not left alone.

Project Information

Conventual Franciscan Jurisdiction: Province of St. Joseph, Spouse of the B.V.M. in Romania

Country: Romania

Location: Roman

Diocese: Iași

Country Being Aided: Ukraine

Type of Project: Emergency project

Direct Project Coordinator: Friar Ionel-Emilian DUMEA

Email: pr_sergiuantal@yahoo.ro

Total Project Cost: €29,650.00

Purchase of food products: €6,950.00

Purchase of medicine: €6,450.00

Purchase of clothing: €13,700.00

Transportation and vehicle maintenance expenses: €2,550.00

Local contribution (Province): €350.00

Contribution requested: €29,300.00

How to Support the Project

You can support Project No. 50/2026 by making a financial contribution, indicating the project number and title in the payment description.

Account Holder: CURIA GENERALIZIA DEI FRATI MINORI CONVENTUALI

Bank: UniCredit S.p.A.

IBAN: IT66B0200805074000005259514

BIC / SWIFT: UNCRITM1Y82

Payment Description: Project No. 50/2026 – Aid to the People of Ukraine

If any person, institution, or Jurisdiction of the Order of Friars Minor Conventual wishes to contribute financially—either partially or covering the full cost of the project—or requires further information or clarification, please contact the Director of the Projects Office, Friar Valerio FOLLI, at pro@ofmconv.net.

Projects Office

Donation Information

These bank details are provided exclusively to facilitate voluntary contributions in support of projects promoted by the Order of Friars Minor Conventual.
The IBAN number is provided solely for the purpose of making payments and does not authorize withdrawals or access to the account in any way.
Please specify the number and title of the project you are supporting in the payment description, so that contributions can be allocated correctly and resources managed transparently.
Every donation is welcomed as a sign of participation and shared responsibility in the mission of the Order; any use of the bank details outside of official channels cannot be attributed to the Order itself.

The Conventual Franciscan Province of St. Joseph, Spouse of the B.V.M., in Romania, proposed Emergency Project No. 50/2026, entitled “Aid to the People of Ukraine,” to ensure the continuation of humanitarian assistance for people affected by the war.
