The symposium focused on the history of the Conventual Franciscans and the origins and development of devotion to St. Anthony at our Shrine of St. Anthony of Padua in \u0141\u00f3d\u017a-\u0141agiewniki.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The symposium was part of the celebrations marking three extraordinary anniversaries: the 800<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the <em>transitus<\/em> of St. Francis of Assisi, the 350<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the apparitions of St. Anthony in \u0141agiewniki, and the 300<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the consecration of our shrine church.<br \/>\nThe event was attended by Franciscan friars, priests, religious men and women, seminarians, seminary professors, and residents of \u0141\u00f3d\u017a and the surrounding area.<br \/>\nOver the course of four lectures, the speakers explored the history of the Conventual Franciscan Province of Warsaw, Poland, the circumstances surrounding the friars\u2019 arrival in \u0141agiewniki, the origins of the local Shrine, and the development of devotion to St. Anthony during the 17<sup>th<\/sup> and 18<sup>th<\/sup> centuries. They also examined surviving inscriptions commemorating the consecration of the shrine church in 1726.<br \/>\nFriars Emil KUMKA, J\u00f3zef MAKARCZYK, Rafa\u0142 ANTOSZCZUK, and Marek SYKU\u0141A shared the results of their respective research on the topics discussed.
