The General Delegate for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC), Friar Michael J. LASKY, invites all of the Conventual Franciscan Federations to pray together for peace, especially for our confreres living in Ukraine and in the countries that are taking in refugees.<\/strong><\/p>\n

While our brothers in Ukraine remain with their people, and our brothers in different countries are taking in and caring for refugees, we, as sons of St. Francis of Assisi, want to cry out to the Lord with one voice! Let our voice cry out to the Lord in the recitation of Psalm 17: \u201cHear, Lord, my plea for justice; pay heed to my cry!\u201d<\/p>\n

The General Delegate, Friar Michael, proposes that each Federation \u201cadopt\u201d a specific friary in prayer.<\/p>\n

– We ask the friars in the African Federation of Conventual Franciscans (AFCOF<\/strong>) to pray in a special way for our confreres at the Friary of St. Francis of Assisi in LEOPOLI<\/strong>: Friar S\u0142awomir Marek BYSTRY, Friar Pawe\u0142 OD\u00d3J, Friar Mykola ORACH, Friar Stanis\u0142aw KAWA, Friar Stanis\u0142aw P\u0118KALA and Bishop Edward KAWA.<\/p>\n

– We ask our friars in the Federatio Europae Mediae et Orientalis (FEMO<\/strong>) to pray in a special way for our confreres at the Friary of Blessed James of Strepar in BILSHIVTSI<\/strong>: Friar Micha\u0142 STASZAK, Friar Stanis\u0142aw NUCKOWSKI and Friar S\u0142awomir ZIELI\u0143SKI.

– We ask the friars in the Federazione Inter-mediterranea Ministri Provinciali (FIMP<\/strong>) to pray in a special way for our confreres at the Friary of St. Bonaventure in BORYSPIL<\/strong>: Friar Andrzej WANAT, Friar Grzegorz CYMBA\u0141A and Friar Oleksandr LYTVYNYUK.

– We ask the friars in the Centralis Europae Foederatio<\/em> (CEF<\/strong>) to pray in a special way for our confreres at the Friary of St. Mary of the Angels in MATS\u2019KIVTSI<\/strong>: Friar Janusz NOWAK, Friar Artur SPODAR and Friar Krzysztof PELC.

– We ask the friars in the Federation of Asian Minors Conventual (FAMC<\/strong>) to pray in a special way for our Ukrainian confreres in formation living in Poland: Friar Anatolij BRYNZHALA<\/strong>, Friar Serhiy HOROVYY<\/strong>, Friar Vladyslav PASHAYEV<\/strong>, Friar Demyan MYSAKOVEC<\/strong> and Friar Vasyl PALAMUKARCH<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

– We ask the friars in the Conventual Franciscan Federation (CFF<\/strong>) to pray in a special way for our confreres in the countries that are taking in and assisting refugees, such as Romania and Poland.<\/p>\n

Psalm 17 – A Cry for Justice<\/strong><\/p>\n

LORD, hear my just plea! Pay attention to my cry!
\nListen to my prayer, since it does not come from lying lips.
\nJustice for me will come from your presence;
\nyour eyes see what is right.<\/p>\n

When you probe my heart, and examine me at night;
\nwhen you refine me,
\nyou will find nothing wrong,
\nfor I have determined that I will not transgress with my mouth.<\/p>\n

As for the ways of humanity,
\nI have, according to the words of your lips, avoided the ways of the violent.
\nBecause my steps have held fast to your paths,
\nmy footsteps have not faltered.<\/p>\n

I call upon you, for you will answer me, God.
\nListen closely to me and hear my prayer.
\nShow forth your gracious love, save those who take refuge in you
\nfrom those who rebel against your sovereign power.<\/p>\n

Protect me as the most precious part of the eye;
\nhide me under the shadow of your wings
\nfrom the wicked who have afflicted me,
\nfrom my enemies who have surrounded me.<\/p>\n

They are imprisoned by their own prosperity,
\nthey have boasted proudly with their mouth.
\nNow they have encircled our paths
\nand are determined to cast us down to the ground.<\/p>\n

But as for me, justified, I will behold your face;
\nwhen I awake, your presence will satisfy me.<\/p>\n
