Ndola has an estimated population of 624,579 inhabitants. More than 60% of the city’s residents identify as Christian, with Catholics forming the majority. The Catholic community of Ndola is devoted and actively supports the Church through participation in public activities and financial contributions. There is also a significant demand for liturgical books, which are mainly supplied through the Mission Press bookshop.
Mission Press is an apostolate of the Conventual Franciscan Province of the Franciscan Protomartyrs, located in the Archdiocese of Ndola, Zambia. Mission Press was officially founded by Conventual Franciscan missionary friars in 1970 as a non-profit Catholic organization. Since its foundation, Mission Press has published Christian magazines such as Icengelo, The Workers Challenge, Speak Out, and Challenge. It has also produced liturgical books, including Amapepo Ya Icita Ca Missa, the Bemba-language adapted version of the Roman Missal and Lectionary.
Amapepo Ya Icita Ca Missa is a liturgical book that includes the main Eucharistic prayers of the Roman Missal, Sunday readings, prayers for Advent, Lent, Holy Week, and those for solemnities and feasts of the Lord and the saints. It was originally printed by Tipografia Vaticana [Vatican Press] in Rome and published by Mission Press in 1998. The publication was officially commissioned on December 25, 1997, by the Most Reverend Dennis Harold DE JONG, Bishop of Ndola, Zambia (now deceased). This book is widely used in Ndola and in other dioceses of Zambia due to its adaptation to the local dialect, Bemba, the completeness of its collection of liturgical prayers, and its affordable price.
The last batch of books was published in 1998, and since then there has been a shortage of these copies in Zambia. One of the main difficulties in reprinting is the high production cost, as the book requires a special format, paper, and cover. Production costs are further increased by economic challenges, particularly frequent power outages that can last up to eight hours a day. The objective of the project is to produce 2,000 copies of the book.

Project Information

Conventual Franciscan Jurisdiction: Province of the Franciscan Protomartyrs in Zambia

Country: Zambia

Location: Ndola

Type of Project: Pastoral project

Date of Proposal: 2025

Direct Project Coordinator:

Friar Kapambwe Anthony SALANGETA

Email: sales@missionpress.org

Total Project Cost: € 29,500.00

Local Contributions (from the local community):

€6,000.00

Requested Contribution:

€23,500.00

How to Support the Project

You can support Project No. 21/ by making a financial contribution, indicating the project number and title in the payment description.

Account Holder: CURIA GENERALIZIA DEI FRATI MINORI CONVENTUALI

Bank: UniCredit S.p.A.

IBAN: IT66B0200805074000005259514

BIC / SWIFT: UNCRITM1Y82

Payment Description: Project No. 21/2025 – Reprinting of Amapepo Ya Icita Ca Missa (Ndola, Zambia)

Projects Office

Donation Information

These bank details are provided exclusively to facilitate voluntary contributions in support of projects promoted by the Order of Friars Minor Conventual.
The IBAN number is provided solely for the purpose of making payments and does not authorize withdrawals or access to the account in any way.

Please specify the number and title of the project you are supporting in the payment description, so that contributions can be allocated correctly and resources managed transparently.
Every donation is welcomed as a sign of participation and shared responsibility in the mission of the Order; any use of the bank details outside of official channels cannot be attributed to the Order itself.

ngg_shortcode_0_placeholder

Project No. 21/2025 Reprinting of Amapepo Ya Icita Ca Missa Roman Missal and Lectionary in Bemba The Conventual Franciscan Province of the Franciscan Protomartyrs in Zambia has proposed Pastoral Project No. 21/2025, dedicated to reprinting Amapepo Ya Icita Ca Missa [Prayers of the Order of the Mass], the Roman Missal and Lectionary adapted into the […]

[98,132,5257,148,5015
725
post-92759","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-afcof-en","category-federations","category-in-progress","category-news","category-projects-office","tag-zambia-en
["GET
