{"id":97501,"date":"2026-03-31T13:02:16","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T11:02:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ofmconv.net\/brano-musicale-composto-in-onore-di-fra-gerry-waterman\/"},"modified":"2026-05-08T13:11:37","modified_gmt":"2026-05-08T11:11:37","slug":"brano-musicale-composto-in-onore-di-fra-gerry-waterman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ofmconv.net\/en\/brano-musicale-composto-in-onore-di-fra-gerry-waterman\/","title":{"rendered":"Music Piece Composed in Honor of Friar Gerry WATERMAN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>When Friar Gerry WATERMAN, OFM Conv., heard the Hendricks Chapel Choir perform an original choral piece based on his favorite verse, Psalm 139, he cried tears of joy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery part of me was tingling, and I was sobbing because it just touched my soul,\u201d said Friar Gerry, a Syracuse University Catholic chaplain. \u201cIt was just awe inspiring.\u201d Friar Gerry is a member of the Province of Our Lady of the Angels in the USA.<br \/>\nThe sold-out concert took place on Palm Sunday, March 29, 2026. It was part of Hendricks Chapel\u2019s Malmgren Concert Series and was one of many performances at the Syracuse University Catholic Center celebrating the donation and installation of the Center\u2019s new Harrold organ.<br \/>\n\u201cChancellor Kent SYVERUD commissioned Syracuse University\u2019s Catholic Music Director, Dr. Peppie CALVAR, to compose a piece of music in my honor, for my ten years of service, and prior to my departure from the university,\u201d said Friar Gerry. \u201cDr. Peppie asked me for a text of my choosing and I proffered Psalm 139.
