On May 11-13, 2026, the Province of St. Jerome in Croatia conducted the second part of its Ordinary Provincial Chapter. The event took place at the Holy Spirit Friary in Zagreb, Croatia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Minister Provincial, Friar Miljenko HONTI\u0106, presided over the three-day Chapter. During that time, the friars made decisions regarding the future of the Province, elected new Guardians, and announced the convocation of an Extraordinary Chapter for 2027. Those attending included the twenty-seven Provincial Delegates and the Assistant General for the Centralis Europae Foederatio, Friar Vincenzo COSATTI, who came to Zagreb from Rome as the Delegate of the Minister General. At the beginning of the second part of the Chapter, Friar Miljenko HONTI\u0106 offered an introductory reflection as a spiritual preparation for beginning the work of the Chapter.
\nThe main part of the first day was dedicated to approving the Provincial Four-Year Plan. The document was the result of the first part of the Chapter, during which proposals emerged through the discussion groups and were subsequently incorporated into the Instrumentum laboris. After a constructive discussion, the Plan was unanimously approved. It will guide the Province\u2019s action over the next four years.
\nOn the second day, the friars addressed various proposals and topics, namely, initial and continuing formation, strengthening fraternity, greater awareness of Franciscan identity, the need for systematic care of elderly and infirm friars, several specific projects, and the situation of the communities and presences in light of the Province\u2019s current status.
\nAmong the most significant operational decisions was the establishment of a commission charged with analyzing all current Conventual presences in Croatia over the next six months. The results of this work will be presented during the Extraordinary Provincial Chapter convened for the spring of 2027, in which all of the friars of the Province will participate. On that occasion, the friars will make decisions about reorganization, strengthening of some communities, and the possible closure of certain other presences, with a view to renewing the pastoral direction of the Province.
\nThe final session of the Chapter was held Wednesday afternoon. It was dedicated to the election of new Guardians and several Provincial offices. The friars elected the Guardians of the friaries and the formator of theology students, while entrusting the Provincial government to assign the remaining offices. With the work of the Chapter finished, the Chapter Secretary, Friar Milan GELO, declared the Chapter officially concluded.
\nAfterwards, a solemn Mass was celebrated in the Holy Spirit Chapel. During the liturgy, the new Guardians took their oaths of office, and the friars prayed for all of their confreres who died during the last four-year term.
