{"id":98295,"date":"2026-05-25T13:36:45","date_gmt":"2026-05-25T11:36:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ofmconv.net\/ghana-2026-ordinazioni-sacerdotali-e-diaconali\/"},"modified":"2026-05-25T13:38:26","modified_gmt":"2026-05-25T11:38:26","slug":"ghana-2026-ordinazioni-sacerdotali-e-diaconali","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ofmconv.net\/en\/ghana-2026-ordinazioni-sacerdotali-e-diaconali\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghana: 2026 Priestly and Diaconal Ordinations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>As we celebrate the 800<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the <em>transitus<\/em> of our Seraphic Father, St. Francis of Assisi, the Lord has once again blessed the Provincial Custody of St. Anthony of Padua in Ghana by ordaining twelve of its members to the priesthood and the diaconate.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The ordinations took place on May 23, 2026, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Effiakuma-Takoradi, Ghana. It was a colorful celebration during which eight friars were ordained priests and four friars were ordained deacons. The newly ordained priests are Friars Moses Kodjo Sassou WALLACE, Abraham APPIAH, Kofi Evans APPAU, Anthony Romanus DONKOH, Paul KUSI, Ebenezer Kwabena ARTHUR, Stephen ADUSEI and Prosper YAW-KUMAH. The newly ordained deacons are Friars Benjamin Akouete Mawutor DONOU, Samuel Awechena TANKIA, Martin Mensah BOAMAH and Isaac Adobasom MANU. The principal celebrant was the Most Reverend John Baptist ATTAKRUH, Bishop of Sekondi\u2013Takoradi, Ghana. Others in attendance included the Provincial Custos, Friar Vitus Edem Yao MENSAH; the Vicar Custos, Friar Emmanuel Kofi OCRAN; members of the Custodial Definitory; friars of the Custody; council members from the Diocese of Sekondi-Takoradi; priests and religious from within the diocese; as well as family members, friends, relatives and parishioners. The church was completely filled. In his homily, Bishop ATTAKRUH admonished the newly ordained to remain in solidarity with the lay faithful by caring for their spiritual needs. He also urged them to avoid the illusion that ordination places them above others or puts them beyond correction. Finally, he encouraged them to remain faithful to the vows and promises of their ordination in a world where everything seems dispensable. The Provincial Custos also offered his congratulations to the brothers for their perseverance and courage, welcoming them to contribute their best to the growth of the Custody and of the Church at large. It was a long but joyful day, with the celebration lasting nearly five hours. We are grateful to God for this gift to the Custody, and we wish our brothers every blessing in their priestly and diaconal ministries. May our Seraphic Father, St. Francis of Assisi, intercede for us.
