Mexico: Provincial Chapter

On May 8-13, 2017, the first part of the Second Ordinary Provincial Chapter of the Province of Our Lady of Guadalupe (Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe) was celebrated in the Maria Immacolata friary in Cuautitlan Izcalli, State of Mexico, Mexico.

The Chapter was presided over by the Vicar General of the Order, Friar Jerzy NOREL. The Assistant General for the Federación Conventuales America Latina (FALC), Friar Carlos Alberto TROVARELLI, was also present.
In the third session, Friar Mario CASTRO MARTÍNEZ was elected to his first term as Minister Provincial. Friar Mario was born in Tlalnepantla (State of Mexico) on October 21, 1966.
In the fourth session, the Capitulars elected new members of the Provincial Definitory. They are: Friar Francisco MUÑOZ VILLEGAS, Provincial Vicar (first term); Friar Fausto de Jesús RAMÍREZ ROSARIO, Provincial Secretary (first term); Friar Jorge HERNÁNDEZ DE LUNA, Definitor (first term); and Friar Lorenzo ROJAS GUTIÉRREZ, Definitor (first term).
Subsequently, Friar Alfredo Guadalupe MEDRANO GALVÁN was nominated and elected the Provincial Econom and Friar Oscar Vicente BENAVIDES GALICIA was elected the Provincial Exactor.
The Chapter took place in a fraternal and peaceful atmosphere. On Thursday, May 11, a festive lunch was served immediately after the election. During the lunch, the Minister General communicated his confirmation and the new Provincial Minister took his oath of office before all the post-novices, novices and postulants of the Province. The Province of Mexico currently has eleven communities in Mexico, including two missions, Tlacoachistlahuaca and Xochistlahuaca in the State of Guerrero. It also has a community serving Latin American migrants in Austin, Texas, U.S.A. Parish ministry is carried out at thirteen locations. There are also various important social and cultural works.
There are 52 solemnly professed friars in this young Province which was erected at the Ordinary General Chapter of 2013. The Province also has nearly fifty young men in initial formation.
