On October 24, 2026, Friar Gregory M. (Kenneth C.) SALVA celebrated two important milestones in his Franciscan vocation: his solemn profession of vows and his ordination to the diaconate. Both celebrations took place at St. Joseph Friary and Spirituality Center in Tagaytay City, the Philippines, where his religious vocation had been nurtured under the patronage of St. Joseph.
In the morning, Friar Gregory professed his solemn vows into the hands of the Provincial Custos, Friar Dennis M. VARGAS, with Friars Miguel M. SUMAGAYSAY and John Nathan M. MAAGMA serving as witnesses. Following the profession, the solemnly professed friars welcomed him into their fraternity with the fraternal kiss, marking his lifelong commitment to the Franciscan way of life and his full incorporation into the fraternity of solemnly professed friars.
In the afternoon, Friar Gregory was ordained to the diaconate by the Most Reverend Ramon C. ARGÜELLES, Archbishop Emeritus of Lipa, the Philippines, through the laying on of hands and the Prayer of Ordination. Through this ordination, he was entrusted with the ministry of service, which includes proclaiming the Gospel, assisting at the altar, and serving the Church, particularly through works of charity.
Both celebrations were attended by his younger sister and other relatives from his hometown of Bato, Leyte Province, the Philippines, as well as by friends and benefactors of Friar Gregory and the Order. Their presence added to the joy and gratitude that characterized this important day in his Franciscan journey.
The solemn profession and diaconal ordination marked not only a significant step in Friar Gregory’s vocation but also a moment of grace for the Conventual Franciscan Family. As he continues his journey toward the priesthood, may he remain faithful to his solemn vows and diaconal ministry, following the example of Christ the Servant in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi.
