On July 12, 2024, the Province of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico experienced great joy as its novices concluded their novitiate year and professed their temporary vows. The ceremony took place in Totolapan, in the State of Morelos, Mexico.
The newly professed are Friars Adolfo Ángel TAPIA BAUTISTA, Pablo Nahúm SALAZAR ROCHA, Hugo Evani GUERRERO SOLÍS and Erick Seau BENÍTEZ CANIVE. They professed their simple vows into the hands of the Minister Provincial, Friar Mario CASTRO MARTÍNEZ.
Friar Bryan Alexander MERO ZAMBRANO, a member of the Provincial Delegation in Ecuador, completed his novitiate year along with the novices of Mexico but professed his vows in Ecuador on July 13, 2024.
During the ceremony in Totolapan, a new class of novices began their novitiate year. The new novices are: Friar Luis Adrián OROZCO VENTURA, from Mexico and Friars Carlos Iván VILLACÍS VALERO and Roberto Carlos BOSQUES SAMANIEGO from Ecuador.
The ceremony was very touching. Everyone witnessed the newly professed demonstrate their commitment to live according to the Rule for one year. In addition, they observed the new novices being vested in the Conventual Franciscan habit and expressing their desire to carry out the novitiate year with dedication. Several friars from the Province attended the ceremony, in particular the Novice Master, Friar Julio RODRÍGUEZ PÉREZ. Also present were some student friars, the families of the newly professed and the new novices, some parishioners from Totolapan (home of the San Antonio Novitiate), and parishioners from other communities served by the friars.
Another moving aspect of the event was that it took place in the newly rebuilt church that had been partially destroyed by an earthquake in 2017. After the ceremony, a fraternal gathering took place in the large orchard attached to the friary. We ask God to support these brothers of ours in their holy purposes.
