On Sunday, January 16, 2022, the Provincial Custody of Mary Mother of Mercy in Central America joyfully celebrated the simple profession of two of its members, Friars Pedro Rodolfo VILLAGRA GUTIÉRREZ and David Rolando MONTOYA MARTÍNEZ.
The Provincial Custos, Friar Jorge Arturo DOBLES ULLOA, received their vows. In his homily, Friar Jorge strongly urged the friars to continue their journey of discernment with Jesus, their formators and the friars of their community.
The celebration was held at the Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Friary and Postulancy House in Heredia (Belén), Costa Rica, a place well-known and much loved by the newly professed. After the celebration, they gratefully recalled some of the experiences they had at this friary. The other friars present encouraged the newly professed to faithfully follow in the footsteps of Jesus, walking hand in hand with Mary our Mother and Francis of Assisi.
We thank God for the vocation of these confreres of ours and for saying “yes” to the call of Christ to follow Him in the Franciscan life. May He who called them grant them perseverance in faith, hope and charity at this new stage of formation in their lives.
