On September 25-26, 2025, the friars of the Province of St. Maximilian M. Kolbe in South Korea conducted an academic symposium to mark the 800th anniversary of the composition of the Canticle of the Creatures [also known as the Canticle of Brother Sun].
The program was as follows:
Friar Giovanni Joohyun KANG gave a presentation on “Human Vocation in Relation to Creatures in the Bible”; Friar Francesco Saverio Jiyoung YOON, lectured on “An Understanding of Humanity from the Writings of St. Francis”; Friar Mattia Moonki CHOI spoke on “The Worldview in the Writings of Francis”; Friar Justin Minwoo LEE gave a presentation on “Mysticism in the Canticle of Brother Sun by St. Francis of Assisi”; and Friar Stefan Dahan LEE, lectured on “The Canticle of Brother Sun and a Life of Ecological Conversion.”
The presentations will be published by Jakum Publishing, a printing house run by the friars. The lectures will also be released in online video format.
