On Saturday, September 12, 2020, God blessed the Custody of St. Anthony of Padua in Ghana with the ordination of three friar-priests and one friar-deacon. The ordinations took place at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Sunyani, Ghana. The Most Reverend Matthew Kwasi GYAMFI, Bishop of Sunyani, presided. The Vicar Custos, Friar Eugene Harrison Owusu ANTWI-BOASIAKO, presented the four friars to the bishop for ordination.

This solemn and colorful celebration was graced by friars from each of the Custody’s five friaries. Many priests attended as well, along with religious, lay faithful and family members of the friars.
Bishop GYAMFI advised the friars to always teach the Gospel and serve God’s people in the Sacraments. He added that they are to fulfil their call without discrimination, in humility and with patience.
The newly ordained priests are Friars Bernard Atsu NANEWODO, Derrick Amenyo Yao BRESSEY and Francis Atobrah ADUSEI-POKU. Friar Emmanuel Adjei NSIAH was ordained a deacon. The friars’ families and the Custody are grateful to God for the gift of these ordinations.
