From November 30 to December 4, 2020, the Province of the Immaculate Conception of the B.V.M. in Japan celebrated its 16th Ordinary Provincial Chapter. The event took place at the Passionist retreat center in Munakata, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan.
Eighteen Capitulars participated along with Friar Benedetto BAEK, the Assistant General for the Federation of Asian Minor Conventuals (FAMC), who was present as the Delegate of the Minister General.
The Minister General himself confirmed, by telephone, Friar Lucas (Shin-ichiroh) TANIZAKI as the new Minister Provincial. Friar Lucas was elected by letter on October 10, 2020.
The members of the new Provincial Definitory are Friars Ioannes Baptista (Masatoshi) YAMAGUCHI, Provincial Vicar; Marcus (Keiichi) OMIZU, Provincial Secretary; Josephus (Sin Hyoung) LEE, Provincial Econom; and Caecilianus (Mitsuharu) AKAO, Provincial Definitor.
The second part of the Chapter will be celebrated on January 25-29, 2021, at the Seibo-no-Kishi Shudoin Friary in Nagasaki.
