At 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2021, a Rite of Blessing was conducted for the St. Francis of Assisi parish church in Adukalakandam, India. The church is under the care the Conventual Franciscans.
The Most Reverend Joseph PAMPLANY, Auxiliary Bishop of Tellicherry (Syro-Malabar), India, led the ceremony and conferred the blessing upon the church. Also present was the Minister Provincial, the Very Reverend Friar Bonaventure KALLUVETTUKUZHIYIL, who served as Archdeacon. Priests from neighboring parishes attended along with friars from various communities. Bishop PAMPLANY congratulated the church’s Pastor, the Reverend Friar Aloysius POLACKAL, for his dedication and tireless work. He also thanked the parishioners for their cooperation and support.
After the Mass, a public meeting took place in the church. During the meeting, the pastor thanked the bishop and all the priests who came for the ceremony. He also thanked everyone who helped to renovate the Church and awarded some mementos to the main contractors and the workers. After the meeting, invited guests enjoyed an agape meal in the ashram [friary].
