On November 30 to December 4, 2019, the annual assembly of the Federation of Asian Minor Conventuals (FAMC) took place at the retreat house of the Franciscan Sisters of St. Elizabeth in Berastagi, Indonesia.

All FAMC members were present to share the joy of the birth of the new Province of Mary Immaculate in Indonesia. The new Province was approved by the 2019 Ordinary General Chapter. The Minister General, Friar Carlos A. TROVARELLI and the Assistant General for the FAMC, Friar Benedetto Seung-jae BAEK, were also present at the assembly.
On Saturday, November 30, the feast day of the new Province was celebrated in Deli Tua. Those attending the celebration included many faithful from our parishes, the bishops from the dioceses where the friars serve, and men and women religious from around the country. On Sunday, the women’s boarding school in Bandarbaru was inaugurated.
On Monday December 2, the Federation elected Friar Bonaventura KALLUVETTUKUZHIYIL, the Minister Provincial of the Province of St. Maximilian M. Kolbe in India, as its president.
The following day, Friar Timothy KULBICKI held a conference on the Constitutions and the General Statutes and gave special attention to the relationship between Provinces and Provincial Custodies.
At the end of the meeting, the friars scheduled the next assembly for Vietnam in 2020.
