On Saturday, August 11, 2018, Friar Yohanes Maria TANDO, of the Provincial Custody of the Immaculate Conception of the B.V.M. in Indonesia, was ordained to the priesthood.
The ordination took place at the parish of Santa Maria in Tarutung-Northern Sumatra. The Most Reverend Anicetus Bongsu SINAGA, OFM Cap., Metropolitan Archbishop of Medan, laid hands upon and ordained Friar Yohanes along with three other deacons (diocesan).
Nearly two thousand faithful attended including lay people, religious and priests. Our new priest completed his studies at the St. John’s School of Philosophy and Theology, Pematangsiantar, in July of 2017. He was ordained a deacon on January 25, 2018, again at Pematangsiantar. He is currently a member of the formation team at the Tiga Juhar postulancy house.
