On October 2, 2024, an exhibition to mark the opening of World Mission Month – October 2024, was inaugurated by the Most Reverend Baldo REINA, Vice-Regent of the Diocese of Rome. The exhibition was installed at the Church of San Giuseppe dei Falegnami, located in the Roman Forum. It will remain permanently on display for tourists and faithful throughout the 2025 Jubilee Year.
This exhibition was conceived and organized by the Consultation of the Missionary Center of the Vicariate of Rome, which serves as a hub for mission animation across the Prefectures and the 332 parishes within the Diocese of Rome. The Consultation is comprised of twenty-five leaders from various men’s and women’s institutes, congregations, and associations that carry out missionary work. Friar Paolo FIASCONARO, Director of the Missionary Center of the Federazione Intermediterranea Ministri Provinciali (FIMP) is a member of the Consultation. He represents the Franciscans.
The Consultation is coordinated by the Director of the Diocesan Missionary Center, Father Giulio ALBANESE. It was established four years ago and meets once every three months. It organizes mission animation initiatives and training courses within the Diocese of Rome, especially during World Mission Month – October 2024. Currently, the Consultation is preparing for the upcoming Mission Vigil scheduled for October 19, 2024, at 8:30 p.m. to be celebrated at the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls.
The exhibition is on display in the striking hall adjacent to the Church of San Giuseppe dei Falegnami (above the Mamertine Prison). It is entitled: “Mission: What Passion! The World Seen from Another Perspective” and was created by the Villaregia Missionary Community. The display is designed to teach young and old about the importance of evangelization as a response to the spiritual and material needs of those living in the newest presences of the Church. Particular attention is paid to the challenges of development and human rights in the world.
Before launching the exhibition, Vice-Regent REINA presided over a Mass with Father Giulio ALBANESE and other religious members of the Consultation. On October 6, 2024, Pope Francis appointed Vice-Regent REINA as the new Cardinal Vicar of the Diocese of Rome.
