On January 27-28, 2026, the Province of St. Joseph in Slovenia held a Pre-Chapter Assembly in anticipation of its upcoming Ordinary Chapter to be held March 9-13, 2026. The Pre-Chapter Assembly took place at the Saints Peter and Paul Friary in Ptuj, Slovenia. The purpose of the Assembly was to carry out, in a synodal manner, an evaluation of the life of the Province over the past four years and to clarify future prospects.

Within this context, the friars reviewed the implementation of the decisions of the last Ordinary Provincial Chapter, held in 2022. At that time, a number of key priorities were identified. One was to strengthen fraternal life through a monthly “desert” retreat day, focused on having a deeply spiritual and fraternal experience. Another was to organize high-quality continuing formation events each year. In the apostolate, another key priority was to work together with the laity and to guide their formation, so that in the future they may take on specific ministries within parish communities. Finally, another priority was to offer young people opportunities to discern their vocation and discover a possible call to religious life and the priesthood.
The shared reflection during the Assembly will be a valuable aid in view of the upcoming Ordinary Provincial Chapter. At that time, the friars will elect a new provincial government and draw up a new four-year Plan for the fraternity.
