On Monday, March 28, 2022, twenty-three Capitulars gathered at the St. Anthony Friary, in Dĩ An City, Bình Dương Province, for the first Custodial Chapter in Vietnam.
Friar Tammylee NGÔ, the Praeses of the Chapter, gathered the Capitulars into the Chapter Hall. Friar Tammylee also served as the Delegate of the Minister Provincial of the Mother Province of St. Joseph of Cupertino in the USA, Friar Victor ABEGG. After the Capitulars sang the Veni Creator, Friar Benedetto BAEK, the Assistant General for the Federation of Asian Minors Conventual (FAMC) read the Convocation Letter for the Chapter which had been sent by Friar Victor ABEGG.
On Tuesday, the second day of the Chapter, the Capitulars listened to various reports:
- Friar Luke VŨ, the Provincial Delegate, reported on the activities of the Delegation of Vietnam from 2014 to 2021.
- Friar Tammylee NGÔ reported on the finances of the Delegation of Vietnam from 2014 to 2021. After the report was read, the Capitulars asked some questions to clarify some of its details.
- Friar Peter Vũ Bình QUỐC, the Formation Secretary, reported on formation and vocations in the Delegation from 2014 to 2021.
After the report from the Vocation Director in the early afternoon, the Capitulars formed three small discussion groups, each having a member of the Steering Committee as its leader, a secretary, and seven or eight other members. On Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning, March 30, 2022, the groups discussed the life of the Provincial Custody following the suggestions offered in Appendix E of the Directory for the Celebration of Chapters.
On Wednesday afternoon, the secretaries of the three groups reported the results of their group work to the Chapter. The Capitulars approved the draft of The Summary and Proposal Regarding the Life of the Province Document.
On Thursday morning, March 31, 2022, the Chapter celebrated the feast of the Holy Spirit to pray in preparation for the election of their first Custos: Friar Joseph Trần Văn LONG.
On Thursday afternoon, during the fourth session of the Chapter, the members of Custodial Definitory were elected. They are: Friars Peter Vũ Bình QUỐC, Custodial Vicar; Peter Hoàng Thành ĐÔNG, Definitor; Joseph Nguyễn Chính LUẬN, Custodial Secretary; and Joseph Trần Văn CƯƠNG, Custodial Econom.
The second part of the Chapter will be celebrated on April 25, 2022, at the St. Anthony Friary in Dĩ An City.
