On May 23-27, 2022, the friars of the Province of Our Lady of the Angels in the USA celebrated their Ordinary Provincial Chapter at the Maritime Center in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.
The Minister General, Friar Carlos TROVARELLI, presided over the Chapter, assisted by the Assistant General for the Conventual Franciscan Federation (CFF), Friar Jude WINKLER. Friar Carlos called upon the delegates to dream about the future so that they might respond in an imaginative way to the signs of the times.
The new Minister Provincial (elected by mail ballot) is Friar Michael HEINE. His Vicar Provincial is Friar Gary JOHNSON. The Provincial Secretary is Friar Nicholas Romeo. The elected Provincial Definitors are Friars Thomas PURCELL, Jude DEANGELO, John KOZIOL, Christopher DUDEK, and Emmanuel VASCONCELOS. The Provincial Econom is Raymond SOBICINSKI. The Delegates to the General Chapter are Friars James MOORE and Michael DUFFY.
Given the large number of friars present (a total of seventy between delegates and ex officio members), the friars conducted an evaluation of the Province with a creative technique that allowed for written and spoken presentations. This was held in the main Chapter hall without dividing into small groups for discussion. The friars appreciated the level of participation and the depth of the insights offered by the participants.
The second part of the Chapter will be celebrated July 11-15, 2022, at the same location.
