On Ash Wednesday, February 22, 2023, the friars of the General Custody of the Sacred Convent of St. Francis in Italy (Assisi) took part in their Custodial spiritual retreat for Lent.
Friar Giulio CESAREO, Director of the Office of Communications for the Sacred Convent, presented a reflection based on Luke 4:3-30. During his lecture, Friar Giulio pointed out that God the Father, through His Son Jesus, shows His love for us in an ordinary way. Rather than offer us a better life, Christ offers us a new life, namely, a life in God that is communion. It is up to us to accept this and adhere to it in order to be saved.
The spiritual retreat concluded with Evening Prayer followed by a group discussion using the synodal method.
