On February 22, 2025, the Provincial Custody of the Immaculate Conception of the B.V.M. in Brazil joyfully celebrated the priestly ordination of Friar Fernando PEREIRA DE ANDRADE JUNIOR.
The Mass of Ordination took place at the São Sebastião Parish Church in Araruama, Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil, through the imposition of the hands of the Most Reverend Alano Maria PENA, OP, Archbishop Emeritus of Niterói, Brazil.
The celebration was attended by parishioners, family, friends and confrere’s of Friar Fernando. For his priestly motto, Friar Fernando chose: “According to Your Word” (Luke 1:38). At the end of the Mass, the Provincial Custos, Friar Carlos Roberto de Oliveira CHARLES, thanked Archbishop PENA, a “son of St. Dominic,” for his fraternal kindness in ordaining a “son of St. Francis of Assisi” to the priesthood. He also mentioned that it had been twenty-one years since a priestly ordination was celebrated at the São Sebastião Church in Araruama.
The Custodial family rejoices in Friar Fernando’s “yes” and asks that God make him an instrument of peace, love and justice among people.
