The Provincial Custody of St. Bonaventure in Brazil recently hosted some important events in the area of initial formation.
On January 22, 2022, the Custody joyfully celebrated the renewal of vows of the temporarily-professed Friars Herivelto PEREIRA JÚNIOR, Henrique DOS SANTOS DE LIMA and Lucas DOS SANTOS SILVA. The celebration took place at the Custodial Curia, in the Menino Jesus de Praga [Child Jesus of Prague] Friary in São Luis, Maranhão State, Brazil.
The event was a fraternal time for deepening one’s vocation, not only for the clerical students but also for the entire custodial community. In his homily, the Custos, Friar Clevis MAFRA DOS SANTOS, underlined the importance of the evangelical counsels along the path of one’s conformation to Christ. He stressed being faithful to the vows one has professed, because the vows make it easier to attain eternal life.
On January 23, 2022, the postulancy program began another year of formation. The Rector, Friar Roberto HONORATO OLIVEIRA DOS REMÉDIOS, addressed the community of the faithful and benefactors and introduced them to the young men enrolled in the postulancy program. Four of these men are beginning their first year of postulancy. Friar Roberto pointed out the importance of prayer for religious and priestly vocations.
Also on this occasion, he presented the four pre-novices who are being sent to the Province of St. Francis in Brazil to begin their novitiate year. The novitiate community is located in Cascavel, Paraná State. The novices are Lucas SANTOS SOUSA, Cicero DOS SANTOS MEDEIROS, Marcos Eduardo MONTE SOUSA and Paulo Cesar DA SILVA DE SOUSA.
Let us pray for these brothers of ours who are taking their first steps in Franciscan religious life.
