On Saturday, May 10, 2025, Friar Michał WEŃSKI was ordained to the deaconate through the laying on of hands of the Most Reverend Pavel KONZBUL, Bishop of Brno, Czech Republic. The event took place at the Friary Church of Saints John the Apostle and John the Baptist in Brno.
The new deacon is a member of the Province of Saints Cyril and Methodius in the Czech Republic. Originally from Łódź, Poland, he is what is commonly called a “late vocation” having entered the Province of the Czech Republic in 2017. He prepared for ordination at the Conventual Franciscan Major Seminary in Cracow, Poland, and did one year of ministry at the friary in Opava, Czech Republic .
Many guests attended the ordination, including Friar Michał’s parents, his brother with his fiancée, the pastor of his home parish, and friars from the friaries in Cracow and Jasło in Poland along with some friars from Germany. Friar Michał will carry out his ministry as a deacon at the friary in Opava.
