On May 6-10, and 21-24, 2023, the solemnly professed friars of the Provincial Custody of St. Francis of Assisi in Colombia took part in a continuing formation event.
The first round was for friars solemnly professed for five years or less. It was held in Tolú, Sucre Department, Columbia. The second round was for friars of the middle generation and took place at the La Inmaculada Friary in the city of Bogotá D.C., Columbia.
These formative and fraternal events were also carried out in commemoration of the 800th anniversary of the Later Rule and the Christmas at Greccio. They were a meaningful time for strengthening the bonds of fraternity between the friars and for discussing and reflecting upon the elements that give meaning to our lives as Friars Minor Conventual today, namely, the dynamic force of the Gospel embodied in our Rule, and the particular style that St. Francis learned by contemplating the mystery of the incarnation of the Son of God.
