On Monday, July 14, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., Friar Maria Francesco Hwan-seok SEONG, OFM Conv., of the Province of St. Maximilian M. Kolbe in South Korea, and Friar Giovanni Seol-bin LEE, OFM, were ordained to the diaconate at the Franciscan Center run by the Friars Minor in Seoul, South Korea.
Both Franciscan Orders―the Conventual Franciscans and the Friars Minor―celebrated the liturgy together in fraternity. The Most Reverend Paul Kyung-sang LEE, Auxiliary Bishop of Seoul, South Korea, presided over the solemn ordination liturgy. In his homily, he urged both friars to always be mindful of the seal of the diaconate placed upon them and to show greater concern for the poor and needy.
All are invited to pray for the new deacons, so that they may faithfully carry out their ministry of evangelization as ministers of the Word and assistants at the altar.
