The Province of St. Maximilian M. Kolbe in South Korea conducted its annual Provincial retreat in two rounds: April 24-29 and May 1-6, 2023.
The friars gathered at the retreat center of the Hanti Martyrs’ Shrine in the Archdiocese of Daegu, South Korea, to enjoy some fraternal fellowship and be refreshed in the Lord. The theme of this year’s retreat was the 800th anniversary of the Later Rule.
Meeting with the friars is always energizing. It was also nice visiting the Shrine of the Unknown Martyrs each day and reflecting on the Later Rule. Contemplating the Later Rule on the occasion of its 800th anniversary was a time for reflecting on the essence of Franciscan religious life.
The retreat concluded with the hope that we will all be reborn as true Franciscans who put the Gospel into practice in the name of the Lord.
