On May 18, 2025, the Fifth Sunday of Easter, the second Elective Assembly of the Militia of the Immaculata (M.I.) of Costa Rica was conducted at the Conventual Franciscan College of San Francisco in Alajuela, Costa Rica. The first Elective Assembly took place in October of 2019. Since then, the M.I. has grown throughout Costa Rica and is spreading to neighboring countries such as Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.

The International President, Miquel BORDAS PRÓSZYNSKI, presided over the Elective Assembly. He was assisted by the International Councilor, Norma Magdalena SÁNCHEZ GONZÁLEZ.
About fifty militia members from all over Costa Rica participated in the Assembly. The event began with prayer led by the M.I. National Assistant of Costa Rica, the Most Reverend Gabriel Enrique MONTERO UMAÑA, OFM Conv., Bishop Emeritus of San Isidro, Costa Rica. Afterwards, the outgoing National President, Víctor Manuel VALVERDE VÁSQUEZ, gave reports on M.I activities in Costa Rica and on the financial budget. After a lively discussion, the Assembly approved the activities report and the financial budget.
Next, the Assembly elected a new M.I. National President, Council, and Board of Auditors. The voting began with an explanation from the International President on the procedure to be observed.
The following were elected: National President: Mr. Víctor M. VALVERDE; Vice President: Ms. Rita MAINERI; Secretary: Ms. Margoth CAMPOS; Councilors: Ms. Marisol CAMPOS, Ms. Rosy ALVARADO and Ms. Katia HIDALGO; and Auditors: Mr. Alberto HERRERA, Ms. Olga PRIETO and Ms. Raquel GÓMEZ.
After the elections, the newly formed National Council held a brief inaugural meeting.
The National Assembly ended with Sunday Mass at the church of the nearby Conventual Franciscan friary in Alajuela. The Mass was presided over by the National Assistant. During the liturgy, three new militia members consecrated themselves to the Immaculata, and the new National Council received their mandate with a special blessing.
The M.I. is grateful for the hospitality provided by Friar Jorge DOBLES ULLOA, the Custos of the Provincial Custody of Mary, Mother of Mercy in Central America. It is especially grateful to the Immaculata, our Mother, for her maternal intercession.
