On May 15-16, 2018, a meeting of the Conference of Major Superiors of Men’s Religious Institutes in Poland (KWPZM) and a meeting of the Rectors of religious seminaries took place in Cracow, Poland.

The Most Reverend Salvatore PENNACCHIO, Apostolic Nuncio in Poland, also attended the KWPZM Assembly.
The first day of the Assembly was dedicated to challenges facing consecrated persons in Poland.
The Most Reverend José Rodríguez CARBALLO, OFM, Secretary of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, sent a message to the participants in which he spoke about the message in the Congregation’s recently published document “For New Wine, New Wineskins”, within the context of the current status of consecrated life in Poland. A round table discussion took place on this topic with a number of consecrated persons and representatives of the episcopate participating: the Most Reverend Jacek KICIŃSKI, Auxiliary Bishop of Wrocław, Poland (Claretians); the Most Reverend Jan NIEMIEC, Auxiliary Bishop of Kamyanets-Podilskyi, Ukraine; Father Tadeusz FLOREK (Discalced Carmelites); Father Paweł KOZACKI (Dominicans); and Sister Dawida RYLL (a religious of St. Michael the Archangel).
On the second day of the meeting, the Major Superiors discussed, among other topics, the new provisions on the protection of personal data in the Polish Catholic Church, in the light of the new European Union law. Further information on these issues was provided by Professor Don Piotr KROCZEK, the Ecclesiastical Inspector for the protection of personal data.
In the meantime, the Rectors of the religious seminaries met with the Most Reverend Damian BRYL, Auxiliary Bishop of Poznań, Poland, and Bishop Damian Jacek KICIŃSKI, to be updated on the current status of the document being prepared “Ratio Institutionis Sacerdotalis pro Polonia”, and the letter of the Prefects of the Congregation for the Clergy and the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life, on the introduction of theology lessons in the consecrated life, particularly the theology of the Church.
The two-day plenary meeting took place at the religious house of the Resurrectionists, and ended with Mass presided over by the Most Reverend Marek JĘDRASZEWSKI, Metropolitan of Cracow.
