On October 7-11, 2024, the friars of the Provincial Delegation in Peru conducted its annual five-day retreat at the Casa de Retiro Alvernia, a retreat center run by the Franciscan Sisters of Bamberg on the outskirts of Lima, Peru. The Delegation in Peru is a presence of the Province of St. Anthony and Bl. James of Strepar in Poland (Cracow).

The Assistant General of the Federación América Latina Conventuales, Friar Rogério PEREIRA XAVIER, led the retreat. He addressed topics related to the celebration of the 800th anniversaries of the key events of the last years of the life of St. Francis, such as the approval of the Rule, the celebration of Christmas in Greccio and Francis receiving the stigmata on Mount La Verna. Friar Rogério also covered some classic themes for spiritual growth, such as the importance of silence, healing of memory and the feelings involved in encountering God.
This retreat is one of the few times that all of the friars of the Delegation can meet together, converse, enjoy each other’s company and take part in the fraternal atmosphere of Franciscan joy. Special thanks to Friar Rogério for providing this time to encounter and be reconciled with the Lord.
